IIZUKA has donated £12,000 to St Basils, to support homeless young people across the West Midlands. The donation was a combination of fundraising by seventeen staff who recently took part in the Great Birmingham Run and a donation from the company itself.

On a hot day, everyone finished the course and a number of personal best times were recorded. The team would like to thank everyone who so generously sponsored them.

This is the latest in a series of donations from the company to St Basils. IIZUKA chose to support the charity because the team felt they could make a real difference to young people who are either homeless, or at risk of homelessness in their local community. As well as fundraising, the IIZUKA team are exploring ways of providing other forms of support, such as helping young people develop the skills to get them into work.

Barrie Hodge, head of fundraising and communications at St Basils, said,

“We are truly overwhelmed by the ongoing support from Iizuka.  They have raised a fantastic amount of money for our cause that will ensure the young people in our care have the best possible chance of success and moving on from us to have fulfilling lives.  Not only that, they have also immersed themselves in understanding the issues that young people experiencing homelessness face.  They consistently look for ways in which they can add value to our work and we are so grateful for what they are doing.  On behalf of all the young people we support and the staff that support them, thank you.”

IZUKA’s charity partner is St Basils, a fantastic charity that supports young people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, across the West Midlands.

With the cost of living crisis biting hard, St Basils are short of £5 per night for each young person staying at one of their 40 housing projects.
